Here is my Directing and Cinematography showreel for 2016 featuring my most recent work. All of the films featured can be found in the film section on the site.
I was contacted by Spa ely to produce a short promotional video showing off their beautiful spa and all that it offers for them to use on social media and their website.
We decided on creating a guided tour showing the different areas of treatment as well as the other products that they offer. I love using movement in my films and this was a really great opportunity to use it and have the camera float effortlessly through the Spa.
We wanted people to feel the relaxation of the spa radiating through the video and the way to do this was through music. I licensed a track from Jordan Critz called 'Ascension' which really captures the feeling that the spa has. The speed of the track also allowed me to have a calm pace to the video.
Overall, I am really happy with how the film turned out and how it captures their character and style.
I was contacted by Josh (Mosaic) with the task of creating a short promotional documentary about a DJ set he was doing at a fashion boutique store in Cambridge called Giulio, where they host an event every month with a DJ. We wanted to tell the story of the store and how it started and then discuss the connections between fashion and music and why it is so relevant to have a DJ like Mosaic in their store.
We felt it was very important to have a highly stylised film so I decided to go for a very contrast heavy, black and white style for the film, as this suited the high fashion look of the store as well as Josh's branding. During production I shot a lot of slow motion footage which is used throughout the film, as again this really suits the environment as creates a really interesting visual atmosphere.
For the soundtrack I used two tracks: the first 'Producer' - Herzeloyde and the second 'Hovercraft' - Memorecks. I knew the music was incredibly important for this project so I chose these two electronic tracks which had strong melodies and drums. This enabled me to use kinetic editing to get across this very stylised look and feel to the film.
It was great working with Josh on this project and I hope you enjoy it too.
This is a really fun short video I shot this week at fireworks night! I really wanted to experiment with this style of editing using reflections and repeated images. Using this creates some really interesting abstract shapes.
